School Information
New Barn School is part of Treehouse Educare, which consists of our school and residential care homes.
New Barn School is a special school that caters for autistic pupils. All of our pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
New Barn School is a purpose-built facility with the interior designed by architects experienced in creating spaces for people on the autism spectrum. The modern building enables us to offer a broad, balanced, engaging and challenging curriculum that will provide the greatest opportunities for successful outcomes for our students.
The main building, which extends across two floors, incorporates six classrooms as well as a science room, food technology room, ICT suite, art studio, dining hall, intervention room, 1:1 room, first-aid room, life skills kitchen, and offices. There is also a sports hall and a separate building for vocational skills (including a music room).
We have been open since January 2017 and had our first OFSTED inspection which named us a GOOD school in May 2018. We have since been named as a GOOD school by OFSTED in October 2022 . We are proud of our pupils and all that they achieve on a regular basis at New Barn and we are excited for the future success we will experience.
We have dedicated and well-trained staff who are supported by an excellent senior leadership team and together with pupils, parents and families, aim to provide exceptional outcomes for young people.
Pupils report that they are happy at New Barn School and feel safe and secure to learn. They also say that teachers expect them to work hard and try their best. We are proud of our relationships with our parents and value their views and opinions. We will continue to work collaboratively with parents and families to secure our pupils’ potential.
